You may park in the gravelled parking area in front of the barn. The Barn Studio is accessed by the white door left of the parking area. Do not use the wooden glass door, it is access to a different area.
The door has keypad access and the code is 34023
Safety & Fire Alarm
A REMINDER THAT NO FIRE IS ALLOWED INSIDE THE BARN OR WITHIN 30′ OF THE OUTSIDE OF THE BARN.
There are smoke alarms at either end of the Barn Studio and in its washroom. If the alarm sounds, please check to see if it is a nuisance alarm coming from cooking.
There is a fire extinguisher on the either end of Studio’s kitchen. If there is a fire extinguisher, please use it to extinguish the fire. Please do everything you can to put out the fire. If you have done all you can, leave the building by door on either end and call 911.
There are light switches for the various spaces of the Studio.
East Entrance Door Switches (in right to left order) – 1) the main lights for the space, 2) the east outdoor lights.
Living Space Wall Switch – the light above the south west barn doors, this offers additional light for the living area.
Bed Space Wall Switch – the light above the south west barn doors, this offers additional light for the bed area.
Bathroom Switches (in right to left order) – 1) the main light, 2) shower exhaust fan. West Wall Switch left of door – out door light.
Hint – The wall lights can be dimmed; they use smart switches, simply hold down on the rocker, down for dimmer and up for brighter.
The kitchen features a fridge, freezer, sink, induction cooktop, stove, and microwave/range hood. Specific notes for the induction cooktop and stove are located on pages Here. Please refer there for those notes. The stove is induction and needs a pot or pan on it to heat up and it gets hot very quickly so be aware not to burn your food or damage the pots.
A few important notes; 1) the induction cooktop can only be used with the pots provided on the shelves above the stove that are induction compatible. 2) Please use the range hood when cooking greasy or smoky foods. The range hood controls can be found on the microwave.
You are welcome to use the upper and lower shelves for your food items as you need for your stay.

Garbage, Recycling and Organic Waste
There is a garbage bin (black), a recycling bin (blue) and Organic Waste Bin (beige) beside the refrigerator. The Organic Waste (“beige”) Bin MUST ONLY INCLUDE ORGANIC WASTE no plastic.
The toilet will accept only human waste and toilet paper. The toilet will NOT accept feminine hygiene products like pads or tampons, paper towel or flushable wipes. Flushing such items or anything hard, plastic, metal, etc. will damage the septic system and you will be held responsible for the resulting repairs.
Laundry washer and dryer are offered for your convenience. Detergent is available for short term guests. Guests staying longer than a week are expected to provide their own detergent.
Internet and Entertainment
There is Wi-Fi Internet in the Studio. The wifi is called “Wifi” and the password is mills6?!
This Internet connection is shared with the other buildings on the property, so your speed may be effected by other people also using the Internet. The Wi-Fi router is located directly in the Barn Studio, so you should get a strong signal. If for some reason the internet stops working or is unstable, please contact us and we will resolve the issue.
There is a 55” Smart TV in the Studio. The remote for the TV will be located either on the table in front of the TV or on the wall mounted frame left of the TV. Also note the Denon amplifier mounted in the wall right of the TV. The amplifier provides the 5.1 surround sound. Turn it on using its power button on its bottom right corner. When using the amplifier for the TV, the amplifier should say “TV Audio” on its screen and the TV volume control will control the volume of the amplifier. A remote for the amplifier is not provided
The TV includes apps for Netflix, Amazon Prime, Spotify, Plex and others. The TV will also mirror Google Android devices and Apple iOS devices via AirPlay. Plex features free on-line channels plus high definition movies an TV shows that we make available.
The Denon amplifier also supports AirPlay allowing you to send audio to it via iOS. Connect to the Barn Wifi and find the AirPlay device “Barn Denon AVR-1913”. It also supports Spotify directly by choosing “Barn Denon AVR-1913” as a device in Spotify from your computer or smart device. If you would remote control of the Denon amplifier, you can download a remote app for it for iOS from https://apps.apple.com/ca/app/denon-remote-app/id388608880. The Android version is at https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.dmholdings.denonremoteapp
Note that there are USB Charger receptacles provided by kitchen counter, on the left and right sides of the bed and at receptacle under TV.
Heating and Cooling
The Studio has in-floor heating, the control for this is available in the living area to the left of the interior barn doors. Be aware that it takes substantial time for the floors to change temperature and warm the space.
A/C Cooling – During the summer, there is a window mounted unit above the kitchen sink and by the couches. Use the controls on the unit set your desired temperature.
Behind the large white barn doors in the kitchen area are large inverters for the solar panels that are on the roof. These may make some noise and will produce heat in the space.
What to do on the Property
There are walking trails in the tree bush South of the house and red cabin. Start South down the lane toward the house, walk through the parking area and and to the right of the house there is a laneway, follow that laneway to the bush and you will come to a pond. Please respect the other guests and do not walk in front of or around the red cabin or the Tiny Home. There is a trail on the left (East) and right (West) side of the pond that will take you down in the trails. The trails are unmarked at this point. If you keep walking south, you will meet a gravel road and fence / gate .. that is the extent of our property. Coming back the other pay on the trails will bring you back to pond and then back up to the Barn Studio.
Please respect the other guests and do not walk in front of or around the red cabin or the Tiny Home.
Beware that during the summer the bush can have a lot of mosquitos. You are best to cover up or use bug / mosquito repellent.
You are welcome to walk or bike down our lane towards the road and walk on the road. The road is not heavily traveled but vehicles can be travelling fast. Beware and be safe. If you did not bring bikes, we may have one that suits your needs.
There may be cattle (cows) in the field beside the lane. Do not try to touch or get close to them. Simply enjoy them from a distance. There is an electric fence keeping them in. If you touch the fence YOU WILL GET A SHOCK.
There are a number of solar panel assemblies on the property. These generate electricity that provides green energy to our farm and the electricity grid. They are cool to look at. Please do not stand on their structures or touch any of the controls or cabinets associated with them. If you would like to know more about them, feel free to ask.
The barn is NOT an accessible space to you. It is under construction with many dangers present. Even if the doors are open, you are not welcome to enter unless directly invited. If you are interested in what is going on, please contact us and we’ll be happy to answer your questions.
Wild Life in the Area
You are in the countryside and wild life does exist in the area. There are no bears. You may hear coyote or wolves at night. They tend to stay in the forest and not come near the buildings. We have never seen any at night. Smaller animals like skunks, ground hogs, squirrels, raccoons, etc may be out during the day or night. Remember, they are more scared of you than you should be of them. Having said that, respect them, give them space and let them go on their way. Treat them with respect and they’ll leave you alone.
